Bio Technology-Life Sciences Research

Project to Support the Creation of Innovation in the Life Sciences

To promote the life sciences industry in Kyoto, the Kyoto Lifetech Innovation Support Center (KLISC) was established in Kyoto University. Centering upon an innovative medical technology research and development assistance program, activities to coordinate collaboration among industry, academia, and government have been carried out to develop new medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. Taking advantage of the Comprehensive Special Area of the Kansai International Innovation Strategy and Kansai National Strategic Special Zone, Kyoto has also been working to promote research and development in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, regenerative medicine and preventive medicine.

The Project to Support the Creation of Innovation in the Life Sciences is developing the following two central projects:

(1) Support Project for Collaboration among Industry, Academia and Government in Medicine, Engineering and Pharmaceuticals

The Kyoto Lifetech Innovation Support Center (KLISC) serves as the base for support activities to link industry, academia and government in the combined fields of medicine, engineering and pharmaceuticals centered on Kyoto University.

(2) Research and Development Assistance for Innovative Medical Technology from Kyoto

For researchers based at universities in Kyoto City and for organizations including SMEs and venture companies with offices in Kyoto City, assistance is provided for research and development activities in innovative medical technologies, and opportunities will be provided to develop new business for SMEs and venture companies wishing to enter the medical industry. This assistance is provided to develop new technologies in the medical industry and to create new fields in industry.
